Course Description:
This training covers both the CSE-IT: 2.0 AND CSE-IT: Hotline & Intake versions.
Commercial sexual exploitation is a major child protection issue for communities across the country. Hidden from view and often unnoticed, vulnerable children are recruited, groomed and then abused, leaving them traumatized and without support. Child welfare and hotline settings have a unique opportunity to encounter youth in need of support.
This training will address how child welfare settings play a vital role in early identification of commercial sexual exploitation of youth. It will present the Commercial Sexual Exploitation Identification Tool (CSE-IT): 2.0 AND Hotline & Intake versions as a method of screening specifically for child welfare intake settings, describing the structure and philosophy of the CSE-IT. The training provides a framework for engaging with sexually exploited youth along with suggestions for talking with youth in various settings. Providers will leave being able to use the CSE-IT - understanding completing the tool and scoring for both versions.
This training is specifically for sites that use BOTH the Hotline & Intake and 2.0 versions. Sites should send staff so that they have a familiarity with the standard 2.0 version, which is the basis of the Hotline & Intake version of the CSE-IT.
